Didn't know that you can connect to the own server. The last time I tried it, Steam didn't want to start the game (it was a HL-mod) because "there is already another game running" (which was the dedicated server)

 dedicated server nowhere to be found
Hello, im new here so first i'd like to thank the developers for their enormous and talented effort to bring cooperative play do HL2.
I have a doubt thogh,
in this topic it is said that the dedicated server can be found on the downloads page but it's really not there or i'm getting blind
and i've also read that you can use the dedicated server from beta1, that i managed to find in another site, but i had no succes using it as it says it has different stuff from my beta2 version.
if you could make available a version of the dedicated server for beta 2 i would be very grateful as i'm very willing to test the mod with some friends

I put the client files in my 'source dedicated server\hl2coop' folder and it works very fine!

// Must specify sv_region, or it won't show up in Steam server browser
// 0: US East coast
// 1: US West coast
// 2: South America
// 3: Europe
// 4: Asia
// 5: Australia
// 6: Middle East
// 7: Africa
// 255: World
with dynamic ip or static one , you should use an account at dyndns or no-ip .
http://www.dyndns.com/
http://www.no-ip.com/
some routers with good firmware have a page in setup to inform the site of ip-changes . in other case the site of dyndns or no-ip have a tool that does it under window .
so your friends can ping "CTU.xxx.xxx" to find your ip .
game server and steam handle well the ip-changes [ they only forgot to make game server informs the clients connecteds of ip change ]
when it occurs , console has an info about vac status .

i would love to host a server with this mod on, as my servers are getting more and more popular i think it would get played loads with low pings aswell. for example i put up a Dystopia_v1 server tonight and buy the time i got ready to play it the damn thing was full.. but as x-MING-x said to me there is no Linux files yet but when there is ill be glad to host a server with this mod on it. i have an 18 man server free doing nothing at the moment
just wanted to no if it is ok to put a link on my website to this site
im also making a extra page on my website for good servers i play on and if you want i can post your 3 servers on there

Thank you Max!!
Of course, there is no problem with links/pages referring to us here at Merciless - we're happy that you would do it!! lol
I'm now turning over to look at the Linux build - hopefully we'll have more news within the next few days (assuming I can get the crappy box I've got actually ABLE to boot into Linux!!)

 Re: How-To setup a dedicated server
Follow Freeman on LInux would be AWSOME! I just downloaded the Half-Life 2 deathmatch dedicated server for Linux and I look forward to using Follow Freeman. Please post when the files are up. I can do some beta testing also for linux.
